Crew wanted · a seat aboard

24th Göcek Autumn
Race Week & Atatürk Cup

9–13 November 2026 · Göcek, Turkey

Join a charter race yacht — with skipper — for one of the Mediterranean's most beautiful regattas. You bring your hands and your energy; I handle the boat, the entry and the logistics. 6 seats open.

⚖️ We split everything equally — skipper included. No one profits. You pay the agent price.

Planned, not improvised

Experienced skipper, full safety briefing, training day(s) before the start, and all the logistics handled for you.

🛡️

Your money is protected

Equal split, nobody profits. Secure payment (bank transfer or card), balance only after I share the signed charter contract.

Fully insured

Skipper liability + charter deposit + accident/illness, plus Regatta Coverage — the racing cover standard policies leave out.

Your skipper

Vitalie Bumbu

Vitalie Bumbu

I love sailing — it pulls me completely out of everyday life, resets my mind and inspires me. The contact of the boat and the whole crew with the sea and the wind is, for me, a continuous discovery that stirs real emotion, race after race. I organise these trips because I love them — not for profit.

Three years of international and local regattas across the Mediterranean (Turkey, Italy, Spain, Greece): Rodos Cup, Loryma Cup, Rixos Cup, MIYC Trio Cup, BAYK Bodrum Winter Trophy, Göcek Spring Race Week — in the IRC and IRC Charter classes. I've raced alongside Turkey's national champions and stood on the podium with them; as skipper, I've taken the podium at the Rodos Cup and several other Mediterranean cups.

I've sailed with Vitalie many times — in regattas and out at sea — and he's an exceptional skipper. He combines real nautical experience with the calm to make the right call even in difficult situations; he's attentive to detail and knows how to keep the whole crew at ease and safe. Every time aboard under his command has been not just safe but memorable. I recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone looking for an experienced, responsible skipper who truly loves the sea.

What sets Vitalie apart as a skipper is the way he organises the crew, the professional way he handles the boat, and how he keeps everyone calm aboard — even in a force-7 gale.
Constantin Pelin— Constantin Pelin, crew at Rixos Cup 2025
Our skipper is the perfect mix of organisation, competitive drive and good cheer — a great host, great company, and the man who took us to first place three times! With him at the helm you don't just get where you're going; you enjoy the ride, eat well, and stand a real chance of bringing the trophy home.

Your share — fully transparent

Every boat cost is pooled and split equally across 7 (skipper included). Nobody makes money — you simply pay the agent rate I have access to.

All-in per person
≈ €1,003 / person
Boat share (~€753) + per-person regatta fee (€250, incl. 2 club dinners). Add ~5% shared contingency if you prefer a buffer.
Charter (agent rate)€2,640
Gennaker€400
Boat preparation€400
Cleaning & linen€300
Per-boat regatta fee€300
Fuel€100
IRC certificate€400
Deposit & crew insurance€330
Supplementary regatta fee€400
Boat total ÷ 7€5,270 → €753
💶 Refundable deposit ≈ €2,380 is held at check-in and returned in full if the boat is handed back undamaged — covered by the deposit insurance above. Sleep aboard for free (the marina has full facilities) or pick a hotel at any budget — ask me for current options.

How payment works — and why it's safe

  • Equal split, nobody profits. You've seen the full breakdown above — I pay my share like everyone else.
  • Your money goes to the real businesses, not my pocket. The charter is a registered, searchable company; the entry goes to the regatta organiser. I'll share the actual booking confirmation so you can see the boat is really reserved.
  • Small reservation deposit (€300) holds your seat. The balance is due only once I've shared the signed charter contract with you.
  • Secure payment — SEPA bank transfer or a card link. The deposit can go by card for chargeback protection; the balance by low-cost transfer once you've seen the contract.
  • A one-page crew agreement signed by all of us sets out the costs and a clear refund policy — if you cancel, if I cancel, or if the regatta is called off.
  • A short video call before any payment. You'll know exactly who you're sailing with.

Insurance — racing genuinely covered

This is the part most casual trips skip. I arrange a proper charter policy with Regatta Coverage for the boat and the whole group — because ordinary travel insurance excludes yacht racing and charter-deposit damage.

⚖️
Skipper liabilityCover for the person in command — reusable across the season's editions.
💶
Charter depositThe ~€2,380 security deposit is insured, so the group's exposure is minimal.
🩺
Accident & illness — while racingMedical / accident cover for skipper and crew during the event, not just ashore.
🏁
Regatta CoverageThe add-on that keeps cover valid during the race — what standard policies exclude.
🛡️ Why it matters: a normal travel policy would leave you uninsured the moment the start gun fires, and would not cover damage charged against the boat's deposit. This package is built for charter + racing, so the day on the water is genuinely insured.
Provider: Pantaenius (European charter & regatta specialist) Crew medical/accident: residents of EU / CH / NO / IS / UK Outside that (e.g. Russia): bring your own racing-valid cover + proof before boarding
Everyone is also encouraged to hold personal travel / cancellation insurance for matters outside the boat policy (flights, baggage, non-racing medical). The crew agreement spells all of this out in clause 6.

Who I'm looking for

Quality people, not professionals — but not first-timers either. The minimum bar:

You've sailed actively a few times on a yacht You've held a clear position (helm, trim, pit, grinder, bow…) Comfortable in medium wind Working English (our on-board language) Available for the full regatta Skipper licence — a plus, not required

Sailors from anywhere in Europe are welcome. Many of us come back 2–3 times a year — a good fit gets priority for the next editions.

Conditions to expect

November in Göcek: a sheltered bay with generally light-to-medium, shifty winds — technical racing where crew synchronisation matters more than brute force. Mild days (often 20 °C+), cooler mornings, a chance of rain. Bring layers and a waterproof. We do at least one training day before the start to dial in the manoeuvres.

Bringing a partner?

Partners who don't race can stay at a hotel in Göcek while you sail — from a 5-star resort to cosy boutiques, all 2–5 minutes from the marina, at any budget. Tell me on the form and I'll arrange the package.

How to apply

  1. Fill the crew form (5 minutes) — experience, preferred position, dates.
  2. You get an instant assessment; if it's a fit, a short video call to meet.
  3. Confirm & pay your share. We sign a simple crew agreement.
  4. Briefing, training, and off we race. ⛵
